Federal Judge Orders United States To Account For Tribe’s Gas, Oil Royalties

(January 4, 2016, 2:04 PM EST) -- TULSA, Okla. — The United States must provide a 13-year accounting of an Indian tribe’s mineral rights trust to a class of rights-holders seeking evidence showing that the government has paid trust distributions to ineligible recipients, thereby diminishing the rights-holders’ pro rata share, an Oklahoma federal judge ruled Dec. 30 in a case on remand from the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals (William S.
