10th Circuit Affirms Rejection Of Civil Rights Claims For Police Pursuit

(December 30, 2015, 12:38 PM EST) -- DENVER — The 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on Dec. 29 affirmed a Utah federal court’s dismissal of civil rights claims against police officers for the death of a Ute Tribe member following a police pursuit, finding in part that a “bad men clause” in an 1868 treaty does not support a civil rights claim under federal law (Debra Jones, et al. v. Vance Norton, et al., Nos. 14-4040 and 14-4144, 10th Cir.; 2015 U.S. App. LEXIS 22792).
