Federal Judge Dismisses Family’s Motion To Dismiss Civil Forfeiture

Mealey's (December 22, 2015, 2:49 PM EST) -- TACOMA, Wash. — A federal judge in Washington on Dec. 16 denied a family’s motion to dismiss the United States’ civil forfeiture claim against them in an untaxed tobacco case because the court had jurisdiction to hear the case and the complaint was properly filed and made proper accusations (United States of America v. $249,640.12 in United States Currency seized from Indian Country Smoke Shop Main Store, et al., No. C15-5586 BHS, W.D. Wash.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 168464).
