Showdown With Obama Looms As Senate Votes To Repeal ACA, Defund Planned Parenthood

Mealey's (December 4, 2015, 1:00 PM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Senate on Dec. 3 approved legislation repealing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) and defunding Planned Parenthood, setting up a showdown with President Barack Obama, who has promised to veto the legislation.

The measure, H.R. 3762, the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015, passed the Senate on a 52-to-47 vote late Thursday evening. The House passed the measure in October on a 240-to-189 vote.
