Teva Gets Preemption Summary Judgment In Generic Yasmin Litigation

(December 2, 2015, 1:58 PM EST) -- BELLVILLE, Ill. — With the benefit of a recent appeals court ruling, the Illinois federal judge overseeing the Yasmin/Yaz/drospirenone multidistrict litigation on Nov. 18 reconsidered his earlier ruling and found that plaintiffs’ remaining claims involving a generic version of the birth control pill are preempted (In Re: Yasmin and Yaz [Drospirenone] Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation, MDL Docket No. 2100, No. 09-md-2100, Gail Gannon v. Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Inc., et al., No. 13-10143, S.D. Ill.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 156489).
