Plaintiffs In Facebook Message Scanning Suit Seek Class Certification
(November 23, 2015, 4:29 PM EST) -- OAKLAND, Calif. — The lead plaintiffs in a putative class action accusing Facebook Inc. of “rampant abuses of its users’ privacy” by scanning private messages filed a Nov. 13 motion in California federal court, seeking class certification of their claims brought under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) and California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) (Matthew Campbell, et al. v. Facebook Inc., No. 4:13-cv-05996, N.D. Calif.).
