Judge: Tribal Companies Immune From Cell Phone Fee Claims By MCI, Verizon

Mealey's (November 20, 2015, 2:57 PM EST) -- DALLAS — MCI Communications Services Inc. and Verizon Select Services Inc. cannot pursue damages claims against three Native American telecommunications companies in a dispute over wireless calling access fees, though they can replead to assert claims for declaratory and injunctive relief against the appropriate tribal officials, a Texas federal judge held Nov. 17 (In Re: IntraMTA Switched Access Charges Litigation, No. 3:14-MD-2587 [MCI Communications Services, Inc., et al. v. Arizona Telephone Company, et al., No. 3:15-Cv-0116], N.D. Texas; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 154853).
