Judge Orders Nonprofit Mutual Health Insurance Company Into Rehabilitation

Mealey's (November 16, 2015, 12:27 PM EST) -- MASON, Mich. — A Michigan judge on Nov. 13 ordered a nonprofit mutual health insurance company with insufficient reserves into rehabilitation (Patrick McPharlin, Director of the Department of Insurance and Financial Services v. Consumers Mutual Insurance of Michigan, No. 15-948-CR, Mich. Cir., Ingham Co.).

Patrick M. McPharlin, director of Michigan’s Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS), petitioned the Ingham County, Mich., Circuit Court, also on Nov. 13, for an order placing Consumers Mutual Insurance of Michigan into rehabilitation.
