Judge Denies Discovery Of Homeowner Settlements In Tainted Groundwater Case

Mealey's (November 16, 2015, 8:51 AM EST) -- SAN FRANCISCO — The federal judge in California presiding over the lawsuit brought by commercial fishermen and buyers in the San Francisco Bay who contend that the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PGEC) has contaminated soil, groundwater and the bay through its operation of manufactured gas plants (MGPs) on Nov. 2 ruled that individual homeowner settlements reached in lieu of remediation were not discoverable (San Francisco Herring Association v. Pacific Gas & Electric Company, No. 14-04393, N.D. Calif.).
