Wisconsin Federal Judge: Anti-Assignment Provision Dooms Contract Claim

(November 10, 2015, 10:07 AM EST) -- MADISON, Wis. — Two insurers are entitled to dismissal of a breach of contract action by the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority (UWHCA) in connection with the insurers’ decision to deny payment for medical services provided, a Wisconsin federal judge ruled Nov. 3 (University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority v. Aetna Health & Life Insurance Company, et al., No. 15-240, W.D. Wis.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 148670.).
