Fracking Companies Had No Right To Oil, Gas; Lease ‘Invalid,’ Landowners Say

(November 9, 2015, 11:08 AM EST) -- ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — Landowners who sued a group of hydraulic fracturing companies in Ohio federal court filed a brief Nov. 6 contending that the lease to the disputed oil and gas rights is invalid and, therefore, the fracking companies had no right the oil and gas on their property and they had no authority to negotiate with the landowners (Jeffrey C. Ware, et al v. Chesapeake Exploration LLC, et al., No. 15-00626, S.D. Ohio).
