Insurer Failed To Prove Claimant Could Work Full Time, D.C. Federal Judge Says

(November 6, 2015, 9:14 AM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Although portions of a disability insurer’s decision to deny a disability benefits claim are reasonable, the insurer’s decision cannot be sustained because there is no support for the insurer’s conclusion that the claimant was capable of working on a full-time basis, a District of Columbia federal judge said Oct. 14 in entering judgment for the claimant (Jill Marcin v. Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co., et al., No. 13-1308, D. D.C.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 140061).
