Wikimedia’s Complaint Over NSA Surveillance Dismissed In Maryland Federal Court

Mealey's (October 26, 2015, 1:59 PM EDT) -- BALTIMORE — A Maryland federal judge on Oct. 23 granted the U.S. government’s motion to dismiss constitutional claims against it related to the National Security Agency’s “upstream” surveillance program, finding that Wikimedia Foundation and eight other plaintiffs failed to establish standing under Article III of the U.S. Constitution, which he said is typical of legal challenges to the NSA’s surveillance programs (Wikimedia Foundation, et al. v. National Security Agency, et al., No. 1:15-cv-00662, D. Md.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 144059).
