Duke Energy To Pay $1.7M To New Jersey In MTBE Litigation

(October 23, 2015, 1:29 PM EDT) -- NEW YORK — The federal judge in New York presiding over the methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) multidistrict litigation court on Sept. 28 signed off on a consent order under which Duke Energy Merchants LLC will pay the State of New Jersey $1.7 million in compensation in return for its dismissal from the lawsuit (In Re: Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether Products Liability Litigation, No. 00-1898, MDL 1358, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection v. Atlantic Richfield Company, No. 08-0312, S.D. N.Y.)
