Judge: Cleanup Company Can Amend Suit To Support Economic Duress Argument

(October 15, 2015, 11:32 AM EDT) -- LOS ANGELES — An environmental cleanup company claiming that BP America Inc. still owes it $1.7 million for services provided during the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 can amend its complaint to allege that a settlement it entered into with an agent of BP should be set aside because the plaintiff company was in a state of economic duress when the agreement was reached, a federal judge in California ruled Oct. 9 in granting without prejudice BP’s motion for judgment on the pleadings (Advanced Cleanup Technologies Inc. v.
