Pharmacy Owner Sentenced To 46 Months In Prison Over $1.8M Medicare Fraud Scheme

(October 14, 2015, 11:58 AM EDT) -- MIAMI — The owner of a Miami-based pharmacy was sentenced Oct. 8 by a federal judge in Florida to 46 months in prison and ordered to pay $1.8 million in restitution for his role in the submission of $1.8 million of fraudulent claims to Medicare (United States of America v. Evelio Fernandez Penaranda, No. 15cr20399, S.D. Fla.).
