Fitness App Maker Says Alice Renders Nutrition Info Patent Invalid

(October 1, 2015, 2:52 PM EDT) -- SALT LAKE CITY — A diet and exercise application maker, seeking judgment on the pleadings in a patent infringement lawsuit, argues in a Sept. 28 brief in Utah federal court that claims of a patent for a system that identifies nutritional information using barcodes is invalid under the U.S. Supreme Court’s test under Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank International (134 S. Ct. 2347 [2014]) (Epic Technology LLC v. FitNow Inc., No. 15-00442, D. Utah).
