Tribe Awarded Judgment On Challenges To Study For Proposed Casino

Mealey's (October 1, 2015, 10:53 AM EDT) -- SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two Indian tribes, three citizens’ groups, several individuals and one business lost their challenge to the Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe of the Enterprise Rancheria’s attempt to build a casino in California when a federal judge on Sept. 24 granted the Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe summary judgment on claims that the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) violated the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) in preparing an environmental assessment for the proposed trust acquisition of land for the casino (Citizens For a Better Way, et al. v.
