11th Circuit Partially Affirms, Partially Vacates Leave Ruling For Firefighters

(September 10, 2015, 10:55 AM EDT) -- ATLANTA — A district court properly ruled in favor of a class of firefighters who alleged that their sick and vacation leave was incorrectly calculated; however, the court erred when it directed the city to convert any unused sick leave to creditable service upon retirement using an eight-hour work day, the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Aug. 27 (Kenneth Camp, et al. v. City of Pelham, No. 14-14804, 11th Cir.; 2015 U.S. App. LEXIS 15151).
