Congressmen File Brief In ACA ‘Origination’ Challenge; Government Response Sought

Mealey's (June 15, 2015, 12:50 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two Republican congressmen on Oct. 14, 2014, told a federal appeals court that Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) taxes serve no other purposes and are therefore revenue measures. On Oct. 9, the court asked for a government response to a petition for rehearing en banc in the case, which challenges the origination of the ACA (Matt Sissel v. United States Department of Health and Human Services, et al., No. 13-5202, D.C. Cir.).
