Rapid-American Insurers Deny Coverage, Defense Owed For Asbestos Claims
(September 9, 2015, 12:36 PM EDT) -- NEW YORK — A New York federal bankruptcy court should declare that Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co. are not obligated to pay for or defend against asbestos personal injury claims asserted against Chapter 11 debtor Rapid-American Corp., the insurers say in an Aug. 24 answer to the debtor’s declaratory judgment action (Rapid-American Corporation, et al. v. Travelers Casualty and Surety Company, et al., No. 15-01095, S.D. N.Y. Bkcy.).
