Ohio Residents Seek Writ Of Mandamus To Certify Fracking Ballot Initiatives

(August 25, 2015, 3:46 PM EDT) -- COLUMBUS, Ohio — A group of Ohio residents filed a lawsuit on Aug. 19 seeking a writ of mandamus compelling the Ohio secretary of state to comply with state requirements, as well as constitutional and statutory common law, to certify three petitions regarding hydraulic fracturing for inclusion on the ballots in three counties for the general election in November (State of Ohio ex rel. Renee Walker, et al. v. Jon Husted, Secretary of State of Ohio, No. 2015-1371, Ohio Sup.).
