Board: Bureau Of Indian Affairs Must Reconsider Land Taken Into Trust For Tribe

(August 25, 2015, 10:27 AM EDT) -- ARLINGTON, Va. — The U.S. Department of the Interior Board of Indian Appeals on Aug. 21 vacated and remanded to the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) a decision to take land in San Diego County, Calif., into trust for the Sycuan Band of Kumeyaay Nation, saying the decision failed to take into consideration allegations by nearby property owners that the trust acquisition would interfere with their property rights (Crest-Dehesa-Granite Hills-Harbison Canyon Subregional Planning Group, et al. v.
