ICSID Says Investor Is Liable For Environmental Damage In Ecuador

(August 13, 2015, 12:55 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — A tribunal for the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) on Aug. 12 issued a decision in which it found that an investor is liable for any environmental damage caused during a period when it conducted work in two Amazon blocks in the Republic of Ecuador and noted that it will retain an expert to review the extent of any damage (Perenco Ecuador Limited v. The Republic of Ecuador, et al., No. ARB/08/6, ICSID).
