California High Court Issues Grant And Hold In Specific Jurisdiction Case

(August 10, 2015, 2:44 PM EDT) -- LOS ANGELES — The California Supreme Court on July 22 agreed to decide whether a woman exposed to asbestos in Kansas demonstrated specific jurisdiction over a nonresident railroad, according to its docket. The court deferred briefing pending the outcome of a related case (BNSF Railway Co. v. Superior Court for the County of Los Angeles, Vicki L. Kralovetz, et al., No. S226284, Calif. Sup.).

The court is addressing the same issue in Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. v. Superior Court (S221038).
