Judge: Economic-Loss Doctrine Bars Class Action Suit Over Corrugated Steel Tubing

Mealey's (July 30, 2015, 9:23 AM EDT) -- BALTIMORE — A federal judge in Maryland on July 27 found that a proposed class for homeowners whose homes have allegedly defective corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) made by Ward Manufacturing LLC could not be certified and that the lead plaintiffs failed to state claims upon which relief could be granted, ruling that their strict liability and negligence claims are barred by the economic-loss doctrine (Chad Pelino, et al. v.
