Per Recent 7th Circuit Case, FTC Asserts Standing In Wyndham Data Breach Suit
Mealey's (July 28, 2015, 1:27 PM EDT) -- PHILADELPHIA — In a July 24 letter to the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, the Federal Trade Commission contends that a recent Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruling defeated Wyndham Worldwide Corp.’s argument that the commission’s claims of purportedly deficient cybersecurity practices related to data breaches could not be brought in federal court (Federal Trade Commission v. Wyndham Worldwide Corp., et al., No. 14-3514, 3rd Cir.).
