Senate Passes Water Bill That Includes Blackfeet Water Compact In Montana

(September 19, 2016, 12:50 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Senate on Sept. 15 passed the Water Resources Development Act of 2016 (Senate Bill 2848), which includes approval of the Blackfeet Water Compact.

The bill passed on a vote of 95-3. It now goes to the House of Representative for that body’s approval by the end of the year.

The bill authorizes, deauthorizes and revises various U.S. Army Corps of Engineer water resources development and conservation projects, feasibility studies and relationships with nonfederal projects.
