Insurance Agency, Insurer: Policy Did Not Exclude Coverage For Athlete’s Death

Mealey's (September 13, 2016, 1:48 PM EDT) -- NEW YORK — An insurance agency and its insurer tell the Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in a May 12 brief that a lower court decision should be overturned because a two insurance policies should have covered the death of a student-athlete because the student was not participating in a sport competition but merely a training exercise when he died (Underwriters Safety Claims, Inc., et al. v. Travelers Property Casualty Company of America, et al., No. 16-5143, 6th Cir.).
