Company Withdraws Permits For North Dakota Pipeline, Cites ‘Market Conditions’

PAUL, Minn. — The company that had initially sought approval to build the Sandpiper Pipeline Project (Sandpiper) to carry hydraulically fracked oil from the Bakken Shale formation in North Dakota to Wisconsin on Sept. 1 filed a petition to withdraw its certificate with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC), stating that the company will not pursue construction of the pipeline “in light of market conditions, timing and current project scoping” (Re: In the Matters of the Applications of North Dakota Pipeline Company LLC for a Certificate of Need and Pipeline Routing Permit for the Sandpiper Pipeline Project, Nos.
