Native American Churches Sue To Halt Destruction Of Marijuana Crop

(August 25, 2016, 3:00 PM EDT) -- SAN FRANCISCO — Two Native American churches and two church members sued a California county Aug. 23 in federal court seeking to halt the destruction of a church’s marijuana crop and alleging that the county’s destruction of last year’s crop violated the churches’ religious freedom rights (James Mooney, et al. v. Sonoma County, et al., No. 3:16-cv-4842, N.D. Calif.).
