Judge Denies Google’s Motion To Dismiss Email-Scanning Class Complaint
(August 19, 2016, 10:56 AM EDT) -- SAN JOSE, Calif. — The lead plaintiff in a putative class action against Google Inc. has sufficiently alleged privacy violations related to Google’s intercepting and scanning of emails sent and received via its Gmail Web-based email service, a California federal judge ruled Aug. 12, denying Google’s motion to dismiss (Daniel Matera v. Google Inc., No. 5:15-cv-04062, N.D. Calif.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 107918).
