Zoloft Heart Defect Plaintiffs Tell 3rd Circuit MDL Judge Exceeded Daubert Bounds

Mealey's (August 16, 2016, 2:45 PM EDT) -- PHILADELPHIA — Women who claim that their babies were born with heart defects caused by the antidepressant Zoloft on Aug. 10 told the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals that a federal multidistrict litigation judge erred by ruling that the plaintiffs’ causation expert’s opinion must be supported by “multiple replicated observational studies showing a statistically significant association between the drug and the disease” (In Re: Zoloft [Sertraline Hydrochloride] Products Liability Litigation, Jennifer Adams v.
