Plaintiffs Committee Says It Told Medicare Meningitis Claimants Can Open Claims

(August 15, 2016, 12:15 PM EDT) -- BOSTON — Faced with recent complaints by four plaintiff groups that the resolution of third-party payer liens are unreasonably holding up awards to patients injured during the 2012 fungal meningitis outbreak, the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (PSC) on Aug. 12 told the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts that some claimants could be paid in August, that it has told Medicare that it shouldn’t refuse to open individual lien resolution claims and that the court can’t do anything else to move the process along (In Re: New England Compounding Pharmacy, Inc.
