Judge: Discovery Partially Ordered, Denied In Fracking Lease Dispute

Mealey's (June 26, 2015, 8:47 AM EDT) -- WHEELING, W.Va. — The federal judge in West Virginia presiding over the dispute between hydraulic fracturing companies that contend that they have rights to gas estates based on leases that are connected to a chain of title to the land under which a shale formation sits ordered some of the plaintiffs to respond to discovery requests on June 17, but also granted a subpoena to quash the discovery requests as to one plaintiff because those requests are “duplicative” and “antithetical” to discovery rules (TransEnergy Inc., et al. v.
