Pokémon GO Player Sues For Privacy Violations Under Unfair Trade Practices Act

(July 28, 2016, 1:23 PM EDT) -- WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Florida man on July 26 filed a complaint in Florida state court against Niantic Inc., maker of the popular Pokémon GO game, alleging that the game’s terms of service (TOS) and privacy policy violate the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (DUTPA) by collecting users’ personal information without proper guidelines or limitations on Niantic’s retention or use of the information (David J. Beckman v. Niantic Inc., No. 2016-CA-008330, Fla. Cir., 15th Jud. Cir.).
