OPM Announces Breach Of Federal Employees’ Info; FBI To Investigate

Mealey's (June 25, 2015, 1:54 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on June 4 announced that it had recently become aware of “a cybersecurity incident . . . that may have compromised the” personally identifiable information (PII) of up to 4 million current and former federal employees (U.S. Office of Personnel Management Cybersecurity Incident Announcement, OPM).

That same day, the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that it is “working with [its] interagency partners to investigate” the incident.
